The American National High School Championship Association (ANHSCA) Speech Master Contest is a specialized organization contest dedicated to cultivating exceptional public speaking skills among Jr. high and high school students. Speech Types:
Formal Speech: A structured speech on a chosen topic that informs, persuades, or entertains the audience.The speech should follow a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
Humorous Speech: A speech that incorporates humor and aims to entertain the audience.The speech should have a well-developed comedic theme or story.
Tall Tales: A speech that tells an imaginative or exaggerated story.The speech should captivate the audience with its creative and exaggerated elements.
Evaluation: A speech in which the participant provides a constructive evaluation of a given speech or presentation.The evaluation should highlight strengths, offer suggestions for improvement, and provide valuable feedback.
Table Topics: An impromptu speech given on a topic provided by the contest organizers. The participant must think on their feet and deliver a coherent and persuasive response.
Speech Duration: Each speech must be a minimum of 3 minutes but should not exceed 4 minutes.Contestants will be disqualified if their speeches fall below or exceed the designated time limit.
Evaluation and Judging
Evaluators: Experienced members of ANHSCA Speech Master’s Clubs or Designee will be assigned as evaluators. Evaluators will assess and provide feedback on each participant's speech according to established criteria.
Judging Criteria: Speeches will be evaluated based on criteria such as content, organization, delivery, language usage, and overall effectiveness. Scoring:Each contestant will receive scores from multiple evaluators, and the scores will be averaged to determine the result.
